I am Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dublin, in Design and Visual Culture. I am a cultural historian specialising in interdisciplinary research that is frequently public-facing, collaborative, and typically combines historical, theoretical and practice-based concerns. I have published and broadcast widely on design and visual culture in the context of decolonisation and national identity, including the book Ireland, Design and Visual Culture: Negotiating Modernity, 1922-1992 (2011) as co-editor and subject specialist. I was Senior Researcher on ‘Congo VR, Decolonising the Panorama of Congo: Virtual Heritage Artistic Research’ (FilmEU RIT - H2020) and coordinate the Centre of Excellence in Immersive Media Heritage at FilmEU European University, with Victor Flores and Leen Engelen.
