Geert Kestens - °1962
Geert Kestens has a master degree in Germanic philology (Dutch , English, German) (KU Leuven, 1984), a bachelor degree in Economic Sciences (KU Leuven, 1986) and a PhD in Literature (KU Leuven, 2022) on the topic: ‘Shakespeare is dead- textual dramaturgy in the theatre work of Paul Pourveur’.
Since 1988 Kestens has been teaching languages (Dutch, English, German), (history of) literature, applied linguistics, narrative structures and drama repertoire on campus Lemmens (part of LUCA School of Arts). Between 2015 and 2023 Kestens was head of the Drama section of LUCA School of Arts. As a researcher Kestens was in charge of several OPAK-projects (‘Between veracity and verisimilitude’, 'The Art of loss – towards an actual dramaturgy of melancholy’ and ‘Facing the hero’). Today, Kestens teaches four courses in the Drama program and supervises master’s theses in the Educational Master Music and Scenic Arts. He is also student advisor and international coordinator in Drama.
