“Heritage Remixed” - Fourth Game Jam in Óbidos Hub

Nine games were the result of this final Óbidos Cultural Game Jam

“Heritage Remixed - Rediscover the Past, Reimagine the Future” was the theme of the last EPIC-WE (FilmEU Cosmos project) Cultural Game Jam organized by the project’s portuguese partners, giving youth citizens the opportunity to explore Óbidos’ medieval setting and rich folklore through the creative power of videogames.

25 students from Lusófona University and 17 students from Josefa de Óbidos School got together in Óbidos’ Praça da Criatividade with the goal of creating a game that incorporated european values using Óbidos history, traditions and folklore as a starting point. After a week filled with workshops and team-building activities, the results were nine games. From survival horror thrillers based on the legend of the Musaranhos, to fictionalized depictions of the conquest of Óbidos, jammers had the opportunity to show off their creations on the final day’s showcase. The session concluded with speeches from Hub coordinator Conceição Costa, high school principal José Santos Óbidos mayor Filipe Daniel.

This marks the final edition of the Cultural Game Jams organized by the Óbidos Hub.
