CILECT Congress 2026 – Film Education: ReMastered
The 2026 CILECT Congress will be hosted by Institute of Art Design and Technology (IADT), Dublin, Ireland, and co-hosted by FilmEU (27-31 October 2025). Participants will try to re-examine and reassert the role of educators within film and screen media ecosystems by interrogating our evolving identities as teacher-practitioners, researchers, cultural agents, and community leaders.

CILECT Action Plan 2026
At the proposal of CILECT President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manuel Jose Damásio a Leadership Seminar with the participation of the Executive Council, the Regional Councils and the Chairs of the Standing Committees was held for the first time on the day before the CILECT Congress 2025. As a result of the discussions and proposals, the Executive Council created its Action Plan 2026.

The CILECT Teaching Award 2026: Hot News
All the nominees will be invited to present live masterclasses (30 minutes each) in a language chosen by them, and on topics proposed by them and agreed by the Executive Council. The winner in each category will be selected by secret ballot by the voting school representatives and will be awarded at the CILECT Congress 2026.

Second Edition of the Vision & Innovation Grants (VIGs)
The strong interest expressed in the first VIGs call showed that this project has been long awaited by many individual teachers who lack the institutional support and funding to develop their innovative ideas. VIGs aims to promote curriculum development, creative learning exercises, and research in film, TV, and media education. Funding of up to €5,000 per project is available.

A Stronger Partnership with IJFMA
After the success of several past joint activities, the Executive Council endorsed the continuation of CILECT/IJFMA partnership for the publication of the CILECT Congress 2026 papers.

CILECT's Standing Committee on Sustainability (SCS) has released its complete congress proceedings which are an invaluable resource about sustainable practices within the film education community.

FILM TERM: A Vibrant New Initiative
The Film Term project developed by 7 European institutions (2018-2022) aimed to create a comprehensive multilingual database in 5 languages. With the partnership of the leading partner – BFM, Tallinn, Estonia – it is now integrated into the CILECT website and open to all members for further contributions.

CILECT Standing Committees’ Membership Renewed
Answering the recent call of the Executive Council 26 volunteers have expressed a desire to contribute to the work of the different committees. The remarkably high number of self-nominations confirms that establishing those structures was the right step towards decentralizing responsibilities within CILECT and involving as many members as possible in its development.

Teachers' Forums & Pilot Projects: Continued CILECT Support
TEACHERS’ FORUMS are events designed to provide CILECT teachers with new knowledge and/or practical experience in pedagogical and research methodologies, as well as teaching tools. PILOTS are projects focusing on empirically testing new teaching/learning methods; exploring novel curricular approaches; and fostering interdisciplinary experiments. CILECT offers support of up to €8,000 for both.
