While ARA welcomes this ambitious step, the statement highlights key challenges that need to be addressed to truly strengthen the excellence and international competitiveness of the European Research Area.

The recommendations put forward by ARA emphasise the vital role of arts, culture, heritage, and creativity, with a particular focus on artistic research. The statement was published in August, following the Commission’s proposal for its Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034.
